Black Bean Burger

  • Black Beans | 2 cans rinsed/drained (save 1/4 cup bean liquid)

  • onion | 1 diced

  • green pepper | 1 diced

  • chili powder | 1 tbsp

  • onion powder | 1 tbsp

  • garlic powder | 1 tbsp

  • cumin | 1 tbsp

  • lime juice | 1 tbsp

  • salt n pepper | 1 tsp

  • olive oil | 1 tbsp

  • oat flour | 1/4 cup (optional, you can use any flour or bread crumbs you desire)

  1. Bring a saute pan to medium heat. Add olive oil and saute peppers, onions and spices.

  2. Once onions are translucent add black beans and lime juice. Heat for 5 min.

  3. Mash black bean mixture until you are able to form patties without them sticking to your hands. If patties are too sticky add 1 tbsp of oat flour at a time. If patties are crumbly add 1 tbsp of bean liquid at a time until desired consistency is reached.

  4. Form patties

  5. Bake in the oven at 400 degrees for 15 min or pan fry on both sides. Enjoy with your desired burger toppings.
